Jamshedpur Super League kick starts at Tinplate Sports Complex

Jamshedpur, October 18: The much-anticipated Jamshedpur Super League was officially inaugurated on Friday by Jamshedpur FC General Manager Prashant Godbole at the Tinplate Sports Complex. The opening ceremony marked the start of one of India's longest-running grassroots football leagues, aimed at nurturing young talent and strengthening the local football ecosystem.

The first round of matches saw enthusiastic participation, with 470 young footballers competing in the U-5, U-7, U-11, and U-13 categories. The league offers young players a platform to showcase their skills while providing structured competition and development opportunities.

The Jamshedpur Super League will run for 17 weeks, featuring 70 teams and a total of 475 matches. The league is part of Jamshedpur FC’s larger initiative to promote football at the grassroots level, with a commitment to providing ample playing time and exposure to all participants.

Speaking at the inauguration, Prashant Godbole said, " "We are thrilled to kick off the Jamshedpur Super League and offer young players a competitive platform to develop their skills. Grassroots football is the foundation and the most important for the beautiful game. The third edition of this league is progressive steps towards building a stronger football community in Jamshedpur in our endeavour create a pipeline from grassroots to professional football.”

The opening matches were held at the Tinplate Sports Complex, one of the two venues for the tournament, with games set to continue on Fridays and Sundays.

In the Under-5 and Under-7 categories, teams represented by Jamshedpur FC football school centres at Loyola School made big wins while in the Under-13 and Under-11 categories, Kadma JMFA united and Bhalubasa 7-Star Club along with JFC football school centre Carmel Fighters won in large margins.
