Jamshedpur U15s lift JSW Youth Cup trophy after 6-0 rout of Bengaluru FC in final

Jamshedpur FC’s U15 team have been crowned Champions of the JSW Youth Cup 2023 tournament after a comprehensive 6-0 win against Bengaluru FC in the final of the tournament at the JSW Vidyanagar Ground in Bellary, Karnataka.

The final of the JSW Youth Cup was always going to be a big deal for the U15s and a near full strength Jamshedpur FC lineup was put out by U15s head coach Akshay Das.

The likes of James Chongloi, Rayan C and Lawmsangzuala had all been in sparkling form in the tournament and they all started in the final against Bengaluru FC.

It didn’t take long for the boys of steel to get into the groove, moving the ball confidently and creating chances for themselves.

The first goal arrived in the 40th minute of the match as young Shagolsem Rashithoi Meethei found space and fired a shot past the goalkeeper to give his team the deserved advantage.

The midfielder, along with the rest of the attacking JFC players, were looking very dangerous and got a second goal just before the half-time break as the in-form James Thongmin Chongloi managed to sneak his finish past the keeper and make it 2-0 in the 48th minute.

The second goal seemed to break the Bengaluru FC spirit and they didn’t have an answer for the unrelenting boys of steel in the second half. Lawmsangzuala made it 3-0 with a smooth finish in the 61st minute while Rayan C got in on the scoring act as well, making it 4-0 just five minutes later.

The game was already done and dusted but Jamshedpur wasn’t and Rayan C got his second of the game in the 72nd minute to make it 5-0. Lawmsangzuala completed the rout in stoppage time with a 94th-minute goal to seal a historic win for the boys from Jamshedpur.

The deflated Bengaluru players were waiting for the final whistle and when it blew the scoreline read a comprehensive 6-0 in favour of Jamshedpur FC.

The heartbreak of defeat in the semifinals for the U13s was vanquished by the U15s as they lifted the JSW Youth Cup trophy and made the residents of Jamshedpur and Jharkhand incredibly proud.
