#JFCBFC Match Report: Jamshedpur faces a narrow loss in the opening Durand Cup fixture against Bengaluru FC

Kolkata: Jamshedpur FC faces a narrow 1-2 loss against Bengaluru FC in the opening campaign of the Durand Cup 2022 group stage fixtures today at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan. Rishi coming on from the bench in the second half scored the only goal for Jamshedpur.

The Men of steel started off well maintaining a good defensive shape in the first quarter of the game. Bengaluru got their first chance around the 8th minute when Sunil Chhetri made a run to find Udanta Singh. But the JFC colts were alert enough to get over the attacking wave. Finally, in the 23rd minute, Bengaluru found the net as Sunil Chhetri scored with a header. A corner from Prabir Das found unmarked Chhetri who did no mistake to find the net.

Minutes after Jamshedpur got a chance to equalize from a corner. But Lenin squandered to shoot and find the back of the net. After the half-hour mark, Jamshedpur came up with a good attacking display as Piush kept on creating chances along the right flank. The men of steel got their best chance before the first half when Vinil Poojary headed an inswinging corner from Piush at the 32nd mark.

 

The young JFC side kept on creating problems for the seasoned BFC custodian as the former looked to create space across the Bengaluru box. Ahead of the lemon break Bengaluru came up with some good attacking flare. But it turned not enough to go past the cautious JFC defenders. 

Coming back from the lemon break things turned a bit tough for the Jamshedpur colts. Bengaluru FC took good control of the game creating chances with their piercing offensive play. Mohit Dhami made a good save initially to deny Bengaluru FC from increasing their lead. Minutes after in the 56th minute Roy Krishna increased the lead from Sunil’s assist making it 0-2 for Bengaluru.

Finally, at the hour mark, Jamshedpur FC scored one back as Rishi who came as a substitute found the net in the 56th minute from Phijam’s excelling freekick making it 1-2. Thereafter the game turned out to be a bit cagey with both sides lacking in the attacking third. Jamshedpur FC created a few half chances but couldn't earn more breakthroughs to equalize the score. Thus the match ended as
