Our Reserve Team will travel to Sikkim for the 39th edition of the Governor’s Gold Cup. The youngsters, led by head coach, Kundan Chandra, will be traveling to the North-Eastern region of the country to participate in the historic tournament. In their opening fixture, the Jamshedpur FC young guns will face Royal FC on the 5th of November in Sikkim.
Ahead of the team’s departure, a confident Coach Chandra said, “We have a young group of boys who have just been cultivated at the Tata Football Academy (TFA) and graduated to the Jamshedpur FC Reserve Team. Tournaments such as the Gold Cup are of very high prestige and value for us because it gives the team some amount of experience and exposure to the game.”
Instilling faith in his team, he added, “The level of competition with the kind of teams partaking in the Tournament is rising every year. We have faith in our boys and are confident the team will put up a tough fight. It’s a great opportunity for them to prove their worth on the field.”
A total of 12 teams are set to take part and fight for the esteemed Cup being held during 1-12 November 2019, at the Paljor Stadium in Gangtok, Sikkim. The Governor’s Gold Cup is a historic competition that consistently been held for the last 31 years. The winner of the Gold Cup will receive a cash prize of rupees two lakhs and the runners up will be awarded one lakh.
