Jamshedpur FC suffered another unfortunate loss in the second leg of the season as their re-match with FC Goa ended with three goals to none. This was one of the most heated games so far this season with both sides brawling with each other while multiple yellow cards as well as a red card was handed over by the officials during the game. Unfortunately, the Goan side managed to take the upper hand with multiple counter-attacks and denied all possible attempts produced by Jamshedpur FC.

Moving on from a night of tough loss, Jamshedpur FC is now back for a home match at Tilak Maidan to face NorthEast United FC for the second time in the league.

The last time the two teams went head-to-head in December 2020, Jamshedpur FC were victorious with one goal to none thanks to Aniket, who also scored his first goal of this season. Apart from that, a crucial penalty save from Rehenesh kept the Men of Steel in the lead till the very end of the game thus ensuring them the 3 points.

Jamshedpur and NorthEast United have shared the pitch 7 times in the ISL so far and will go head-to-head for the 8th time tomorrow. Keeping that in mind, here are some of the players in the Highlanders’ squad who could pose a possible threat in the fixture tomorrow.

Federico Gallego

This is Federico’s third season with the Highlanders. He has been a major part of NorthEast United’s squad in the past two seasons. He arrived in India to play for NorthEast United in the 2018-19 season and was one of the most influential players in their first-ever semi-final run. Gallego has managed to score a total of 6 goals along with 7 assists since his debut in the ISL. He has played a crucial role in the midfield for the team so far this season. He has scored 1 goal and provided 1 assist and he will be aiming to dominate the midfield to create ample chances for NorthEast United FC.

Benjamin Lambot

Lambot has been directly involved in the starting line-up for the club since his debut with the Highlanders (ISL Season 2020-21). He brings in a ton of experience and has put that to good use as he has scored 2 goals for the Highlanders so far. As a centre-back, Lambot has strengthened NorthEast United’s defence and will be looking to cut down all attacks down the middle from the Jamshedpur attacking line-up.

Idrissa Sylla

With his quick pace and a strong physique, Sylla has added 2 goals to his tally this season and will be aiming to up those numbers tomorrow night. Idrissa will look to invade the Jamshedpur box using his speed and agility and the Jamshedpur defence will have to push their hardest to keep the striker away from the box.

Gurmeet

The shot-stopper has secured a place in the first team this season and has put forth his best performance, guarding the goal with 16 saves made out of the 24 shots faced on target. The 21-year old goalie has also successfully kept a 2 match clean sheet record for the team and will be looking to up that number while the Men of Steel will try to convert every chance into goals against him.

Luis Machado

Machado is another crucial addition to the Highlanders’ side this season. He has spent a majority of his career playing in Portugal’s top football division, Liga NOS. He made his professional debut with SC Freamunde in 2011. In 2014, Luis moved to CD Tondela and was part of the team that earned promotion to the Liga NOS in his debut campaign. He made 31 appearances and also scored three goals for his club that season. After his previous team’s relegation at the end of the 2018-19 season, Luis moved to Moreirense FC and made 24 appearances for the club, scoring one goal along with 3 assists. He joined NorthEast United FC for the 2020-21 season and has made a heavy impact in the league already with 3 goals in 11 matches along with 20 shots. Needless to say, Luis will aim to continue his goal-scoring run in the league and will be a high level threat in the final third.
