Jamshedpur Public School (JPS) was victorious over Loyola School in the U9 category of the Jamshedpur Golden Baby League in Week 17 of the tournament at Archery Ground at JRD Tata Sports Complex.
The victorious team was the JPS Tigers, who picked up a 5-2 win over Loyola Power Rangers to take home the bragging rights for their school this week, despite Loyola performing well in other age categories during the day.
The second edition of the Jamshedpur Golden Baby League 2023, hosted by Jamshedpur FC in conjunction with Jharkhand Football Association (JFA) and Jharkhand Sporting Association (JSA) has been divided into U5, U7, U9, U11 and U13 categories for the benefit of kids across the city.
The 10-month long tournament is being held every Sunday morning at the Archery ground at JRD Tata Sports Complex to nurture development and add to the existing grassroots schools program run by Jamshedpur FC during the week after school hours.
Over and above the footballing action, the kids were paid a visit by new Jamshedpur FC Reserve Team Head Coach, Steven Dias and Senior Manager of Tata Steel’s Sports Department, Oly. Anand Menezes.
The guests of honour met and congratulated the students at the Baby League, and cheered them on as the kids enjoyed another fun outing at the Archery Ground.
In total, 429 students showed up for the Baby League in Week 17, with the U7s seeing the highest number in 110 students, followed by 90 students in the U13s, 80 in the U11s, 77 in U5s and 72 in the U9s.
10 matches each were played by the U5s and U7s, 4 matches each by the U11s and U13s, while 8 matches were played by the U9s.
