Jamshedpur, August 13: Jamshedpur Football Club has confirmed the mutual decision with Head Coach Khalid Jamil to part ways, following his appointment as the Head Coach of the Indian National Football Team. The development marks a proud moment for the club, its players, staff, fans, and the wider Indian football fraternity, as an Indian coach takes charge of guiding the nation towards AFC Asian Cup qualification, a challenge that the club believes rests firmly on his capable shoulders.

Since joining JFC, Khalid has been named the AIFF Men’s Coach of the Year twice, in 2024 and 2025. His remarkable two-season journey began when the club placed its trust in him during a challenging phase, appointing him with just a week of preparation before the AIFF Super Cup 2024. Against the odds, he led JFC to the semifinals and followed it up with a positive ISL campaign that laid the foundation for a long-term contract. Under his leadership, JFC reached the ISL 2024-25 semifinals, finished runner-up in the Kalinga Super Cup 2025, and recently qualified for the quarterfinals of the Durand Cup 2025.
Reflecting on his time in Jamshedpur, Khalid Jamil said, “It has been an absolute honour to serve as Head Coach of Jamshedpur FC. I want to thank the management, DB Sundara Ramam (Chairman, JFC), Mukul Choudhari (CEO, JFC) Sir, and Prashant Godbole (General Manager, JFC) for their trust, and my passionate staff for their tireless efforts. To the players thank you for giving your all every single day. Together, we built memories that will stay with me forever.
It was a pleasure playing at the Furnace. Our incredible fans have been the heartbeat of this club. Your unwavering support, whether in victory or defeat, has inspired us more than words can express. I have loved the city so much and often bumped into you in the streets. You made Jamshedpur feel like home.
This club and this city will always have a special place in my heart. I carry your spirit with me into the new chapter. Jamshedpur FC is built on hard work, togetherness, and belief. I have no doubt this team will continue to grow and achieve great things. I will always be cheering for you. I will miss you all.”
JFC CEO Mukul Choudhari expressed both pride and gratitude at Khalid’s departure. “From the moment Khalid joined us, he brought belief, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to Indian players and coaches. His journey from club football to now leading the national team is a testament to his dedication and tactical acumen. While we are sad to see him leave, we take immense pride in seeing one of our own take on the responsibility of guiding India forward. On behalf of everyone at the club, we wish Khalid the very best.”
Jamshedpur FC has extended its heartfelt best wishes to Khalid and the All India Football Federation as they move into this new chapter in Indian football
