Jamshedpur, October 18: After a memorable few months that saw him shine for both club and country, forward Manvir Singh is back in Jamshedpur with renewed confidence and determination ahead of the Super Cup. The 24-year-old, who earned his first senior national team call-up earlier this year, believes the experiences of the past few months have been key in shaping his mindset for the challenges ahead.
“It was a really special experience for me,” said Manvir, reflecting on his time with the Indian national team at the CAFA Nations Cup 2025. “It was my first time representing the senior Indian team, and winning the bronze medal made it even more memorable. The competition was tough, and I learned a lot playing against strong teams. Wearing the national jersey is a proud feeling. I’m really thankful to Coach Khalid Jamil for trusting me and giving me the confidence to play my game. This experience has motivated me to keep working harder for more success in the future.”
Having returned from national duty, Manvir’s focus is now firmly on Jamshedpur FC, where he recently extended his contract following an impressive Durand Cup campaign. “It feels great to continue with Jamshedpur FC,” he said. “This club has shown a lot of faith in me, and I feel like I’ve grown here both as a player and as a person. The environment is positive, and the coaching staff and teammates make it easy to give your best every day. My goal is to repay that trust with consistent performances this season.”
Head Coach Steven Dias had earlier praised Manvir’s progress and discipline, and the forward echoed that mutual respect. “Working under Coach Steven has been fantastic. He’s clear in his ideas and always pushes us to stay sharp in training. He focuses a lot on movement, pressing, and combination play things that have really helped me improve. He also gives players confidence to express themselves, which is very important for an attacking player.”
Known for his versatility across the front line, Manvir is comfortable playing both as a central striker and out wide. “I enjoy playing anywhere in attack,” he explained. “What matters to me is contributing to the team’s goals. If I’m needed on the wings, I’ll work on delivering crosses or pressing high; if I play through the middle, my focus will be on finishing and link-up play. The idea is to adapt to what the team needs in each game.”
With the Super Cup fast approaching, Jamshedpur FC are in the middle of an intense training phase under Dias’ supervision. Manvir believes the team’s preparation and spirit will be crucial in their upcoming fixtures. “The mood in the camp is very positive,” he said. “Everyone’s focused on improving day by day. We’ve got a strong group a good mix of experienced players and youngsters and we’re all hungry to start the campaign well. Personally, I want to keep contributing with goals and assists and help the team go as far as possible.”
The forward also had a message for the fans ahead of the new season. “The support from the Jamshedpur fans means everything to us. They create an amazing atmosphere at the Furnace, and we want to make them proud with our performances. We’re training hard to deliver a strong Super Cup and then take that momentum into the ISL.”
Jamshedpur FC will kick off their Super Cup campaign in Group B against FC Goa on October 26, followed by matches against NorthEast United FC on October 29 and Inter Kashi on November 1. With players like Manvir Singh in fine form, the Men of Steel will be looking to make a strong statement under Steven Dias’ leadership
