The Men of Steel register a double win over NorthEast United this season

Jamshedpur FC registers their second away win of the season against NorthEast United with a full-time scoreline of 2-0 as Ritwik Das and Chima Chukwu find the back of the net for the Men of Steel.

With just one change to the squad, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas replacing Harry Sawyer, the Jamshepdur squad stepped up at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati to face NorthEast United FC for their first fixture of the month of February.

The Men of Steel unleashed their attacks from the get-go to find an early opener against the hosts. A shot from Boris Singh from a narrow angle was parried away by the NorthEast United goalkeeper. The Jamshedpur side almost broke the deadlock as JET from outside the box places a stunning shot aimed at the right bottom corner. The curling shot almost looked like it landed into the back of the net but the ball bounces off the post to keep scoreline goalless.

Jamshedpur took complete control of the first half and then found the back of the net to break the deadlock and take the lead right before the end of the first half. A corner kick set-piece lands to Chima who takes a shot but the attempt is blocked away by the opposition defender. Chima who receives the ball once again slips in a low-driven cross in the 6-yards box where Ritwik Das taps the ball into the net to take the lead over the hosts, NorthEast United.

A Jamshedpur-dominated first half comes to an end with the Men of Steel in an advantageous position. The men in Red registered a bunch of chances and attempts to be the side with the lead but the Highlanders only allowed one goal to slip past their defence.

The second period of the game at Guwahati kicked off with the NorthEast United squad stepping up their attack as they seeked to make a comeback into the game but were kept at bay by the active Jamshedpur defence.

As the game was about to hit the hour mark, the Men of Steel extended their lead over the hosts. Rafael Crivellaro from the middle of the pitch sends in perfect through ball into the box which the Highlanders’ defence couldn’t deal with. Chima Chukwu with a quick run gets at the end of the through ball and places in a grounded finish at the far post  to double their lead for his side.

The remainder of the game at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium saw intense action on both ends of the pitch as the squads kept their hunt on to score more goals. The Jamshedpur squad held their ground and kept the opposition from scoring at every opportunity to close the away fixture with a clean sheet at the end of the night. A dominant display by the Men of Steel earned them a well-deserved victory over the Highlanders on their own turf.
