After bagging their 3rd consecutive victory against Chennaiyin FC, Jamshedpur FC now step into the final phase of the 2021-22 season of the Hero ISL as they buckle up to face NorthEast United FC for their next game.
Here are some of the members from the Highlanders' squad who could be a major threat to the Men of Steel side in our crucial encounter tomorrow.
Marcelo Pereira
The Rio de Janeiro-born striker, sometimes known as Marcelinho, is a technically skilled attacking midfielder who can play on either flanks. He was the top scorer and made the most goal contributions in the Hero ISL 2016 with Delhi Dynamos FC (15).
Marcelinho became FC Pune City's leading goal scorer in the 2017-18 season, and his record of 7 assists was the season's highest during the Stallions' journey to the semi-finals. He joined ATK Mohun Bagan on loan during the January transfer window after 9 appearances for Odisha FC in the Hero ISL 2020-21. NorthEast United FC signed him ahead of the ISL 2021-22 season and has made him an influential member of the squad considering his experience and impressive level of adaptability on any part of the pitch
Laldanmawia Ralte
Danmawia rose to people’s attention after assisting Mizoram in lifting the prestigious Santosh Trophy for the first time in 2014. He was instrumental in the Aizawl FC's historic Hero I-League title in 2016-17, his first season with the club. The Mizo winger joined East Bengal FC in the Hero I-League in 2017 and was a key player for the Red and Golds for two seasons. He finished the season as the second-highest Indian goal-scorer with 8 goals in the Hero I-League 2018-19. In the 2019-20 season, he played 5 matches for Hyderabad FC before joining NorthEast United FC in September 2021. Ralte has amped up his performance in this season in the NorthEast United kit with 3 goals and 1 assist to his name and has been an important man of the Highlanders’ side which makes him a lurking threat in the attacking third of the pitch.
Hernan Santana
He began his career as a young player with UD Las Palmas, progressing to the senior team in 2011. Santana was a key member of his childhood club, Las Palmas, where he spent six seasons, including three in the Spanish La Liga. He signed a loan transfer with Mumbai City FC ahead of the Hero ISL 2020-21 season, scoring two goals in 19 appearances for the trophy-winning Islanders. He joined NorthEast United FC ahead of the Hero ISL season in 2021-22 and has contributed to the team with a goal and providing 2 assists to the squad. Hernan has also clocked in a passing accuracy of 83.53% which makes him a dangerous powerhouse in the middle of the pitch.
Mohamed Irshad
He began his professional career as a teenager in Tirur, Kerala. In 2013, he joined DSK Shivajians' youth team, who competed in the Hero I-League second tier. In the 2015 National Games, he played striker for Maharashtra and scored six goals. Following this performance, he was promoted to the first team before joining Gokulam Kerala FC in 2017, where he settled into a defensive role. He joined NorthEast United FC ahead of the 2021-22 season after making his Hero ISL debut with debutants SC East Bengal the previous season and has netted 2 goals for the Highlanders’ side. He is also an essential part of the attacking squad of NorthEast United and can be a menace to the opposition with his play-making skills and ability to create spaces. Irshad will be another man who the Jamshedpur side would want to keep an eye on the pitch.
