Our winning mentality has not changed”, says Peter ahead of the new season of the Hero ISL

Every team needs a solid, strong-minded, commanding leader who leads the team to glory and unprecedented success. The Men of Steel found that leader in Peter Hartley who was one of the vital cogs of the squad in their success-laden campaign of 2021-22.

The former Scottish Premiership player spoke more about his previous campaign with the club, approach to defending the title in the upcoming season and much more in the recent exclusive interview with Times of India.

Quizzed about the season ahead Peter said, “We have been successful by finding a way to win games. I think if we get rid of all the expectations (as Shield winners) and focus on one game at a time, it won't be a problem”. He further said, “As a group, our mentality has not changed.”

Speaking on the plans for the new season ahead and the overall league Hartley opined, “This is my third season in ISL and every year it's been stronger. The Indian group of players are improving at a rapid pace. For me, the game is not played on paper. We have to start well and give the manager a good base to build on, tweak a few things.”
