Playing with Quality Players Pushing Me Hard, Says Praful Kumar

Jamshedpur, August 16: For Praful Kumar, the leap from the I-League Second Division to representing Jamshedpur FC in the Durand Cup has been nothing short of transformative. The young defender has already proved his worth with his defensive skills and also in attacking by contributing a goal and assist in the Durand Cup group matches. Surrounded by quality players, he feels constantly challenged to sharpen his game in every training session and match.

“The jump has definitely been challenging but also very exciting,” Praful says. “The quality of players around me pushes me to be sharper in every training session and match. It’s been a great learning curve so far, and I’m enjoying the process of adapting and growing.”

Since joining Jamshedpur FC, Praful feels his decision-making and positioning have improved the most. Learning from experienced teammates and working under top coaches has helped him read the game better and react quicker, whether he’s breaking up an attack or launching one of his own.

Balancing defensive duties with attacking contributions comes naturally to him. “It’s always been a part of my natural game to contribute in both attack and defense,” he says. “The coaches here have encouraged me to keep that balance, pressing high when needed, tracking back quickly, and also expressing myself in the final third.”

He’s already made his mark in the Durand Cup with crucial goals and assists, moments made even more special by Jamshedpur fans. “Scoring and assisting is always special, but doing it in front of our fans takes it to another level. The energy they give us from the stands motivates me to give everything on the pitch.”

As the tournament moves forward, Praful’s aim is to help the team succeed in every way possible and continue to raise his own level. “My main goal is to contribute as much as I can to the team’s success, whether that’s through attack or defense. I also want to keep improving my consistency and make sure I am always ready to perform when the team needs me,” he says
