Rei: "When You Trust Your Instincts and Stay True to Your Style, Good Things Happen.

Jamshedpur, May 1: Jamshedpur FC’s historic march to their first-ever Super Cup final was powered by a commanding midfield display, with Coach Khalid Jamil’s pre-match mantra of playing their natural game resonating deeply with star midfielder Rei Tachikawa.

“Before the game, the coach just told me to play my natural game,” Tachikawa revealed. “Of course, I had specific responsibilities, but he gave me the confidence to express myself on the pitch. That belief helped me stay calm and focused. I think when you trust your instincts and stay true to your style, good things happen.”

Tachikawa’s composure was evident as he orchestrated Jamshedpur’s dominance in their semi-final clash, culminating in 87th minute goal that sealed their place in the final. “Of course, I’m really happy to score and help the team win such an important match. But more than the goal itself, I’m proud of the way the team performed. We created many chances and could have scored two or three more. Everyone gave their all, and that collective effort means more to me than the individual moment.

“I always try to find space in midfield because in a game like this, I felt the midfield was going to be crucial,” Tachikawa explained. “With the tough schedule and the heat, keeping the ball and controlling the tempo became very important. So I focused on playing my natural game, helping the defenders when needed and looking for the right moment to move forward. I’m honoured to have contributed, but this win belongs to all of us.”

As Jamshedpur prepares for the final against FC Goa on May 3 at Kalinga Stadium, Tachikawa emphasized the team’s resolve despite the grueling conditions and tight schedule. “We know it’s going to be a tough final, especially with the tight schedule and this heat. Recovery time is short, but this is the last dance , the last fight of the season. We are ready to give everything. No excuses. We’re going to fight together as one team.”
