All the hard work put in by Jamshedpur finally paid off as they bagged their first victory against the undefeated ATK Mohun Bagan in a thrilling yet aggressive contest. After breaking their winless streak, the Red Miners will now gear up to face the newest addition to the league this season, SC East Bengal, for the very first time. SC East Bengal have had a tough ISL debut and are yet to break their deadlock. Currently the team is at the bottom of the league table and they will be fighting tooth and nail to turn things around.
Keeping this in mind, here are a few players from their squad everyone should watch out for:
Narayan Das
As a full-back, Narayan Das is a solid player at defence. Having played for multiple teams in the ISL over the years, Das is one of the most capped players in the history of the league with 93 appearances so far. In fact, the previous season saw him become a regular at left-back for Odisha FC. Narayan has played for SC East Bengal in the past and proved to be successful in 13 appearances for the club in the 2016-17 I-League season. He is the first-choice at left-back with Scott Neville, Daniel Fox, and Gurtej Singh accompanying him in the defence line.
Jeje Lalpekhlua
Jeje is one of the best Indian signings for the team. He is also one of the finest forwards in the country right now and has managed to make a mark for himself in the Indian football team. SC East Bengal is the second ISL club Jeje has been a part of, having spent five years with Chennaiyin FC. He will be joined in the attack by the likes of Anthony Pilkington and Aaron; they both have incredible quality and expertise in attack.
Daniel Fox
English born Scottish footballer, Daniel Fox is leading the Fowler-managed side. Fox was declared as captain by the club just days before its opening encounter against ATK Mohun Bagan. The defender comes with tons of experience in the English leagues. He began his youth career at Everton in 2003. Daniel has played in major English clubs like Burnley, Southampton, Nottingham Forest and Wigan Athletic. Fox played in 37 Premier League games and was also a part of the U-21 England squad in 2008 before moving to Scotland. He will be looking to utilize his experience from the English leagues in the ISL and keep the Jamshedpur attackers at bay.
Jacques Maghoma
Jacques will be a vital element in SC East Bengal's midfield. He began his career with the Tottenham Hotspur youth club in 2003. In 2015, he joined Birmingham City before SC East Bengal roped him in the squad this year. Maghoma is a regular member of Congo's national team. He has played 25 matches for DR Congo and will be looking to create multiple chances in the front line along with a strong midfield presence.
Anthony Pilkington
Ireland's Anthony Pilkington moved to ISL with valuable English Premier League experience. Anthony has played 75 EPL, 17 FA Cup and 14 EFL Cup matches in his football career. The winger began his youth career with Preston North End and then went on to play for the Manchester United youth club. Later, he got his big break with Blackburn Rovers. The 32-year-old has represented various famous clubs like Norwich City, Cardiff City and Wigan Athletic. Anthony has also represented the Irish National team. After playing for the U-21 national team, he was promoted to the senior side in 2013. In January, he made his debut against Poland, played nine matches and scored one goal for the country as well. Anthony will be looking forward to being a force in the attack for the SC East Bengal side.
