#SCEBJFC Opponent Watch: They are restless, they are hungry to play!

Another intense season of the Hero ISL has kicked-off and the football fans of India are thoroughly excited to witness the action-packed games yet again. Jamshedpur FC too will kick-off their 2021-22 campaign as they go up against SC East Bengal in their first fixture (away) of the brand new season.

The Men of Steel will be entering the pitch with renewed energy and a single-minded approach to reach the play-offs, when they face the Red and Gold Brigade at the Tilak Maidan stadium, Goa tomorrow night.

The squad will be going face-to-face with SC East Bengal for the third time and will be aiming to tie up the number of wins with the host team while also looking to grab the 3 winning points in their first 90’ minutes of the game.

Keeping the target in mind, here are an analysis of some of the players from opponent’s squad that everyone should look out for:

Antonio Perosevic

Perosevic has come to India from Újpest FC, Hungary, before joining the SC East Bengal 2021-22 Hero ISL season. Perosevic was the leading goalscorer during his time in Osijek with 7 goals to his name. In 2017, he also played for the Croatian senior national team. The striker is definitely one of those players on the pitch that the Jamshedpur defensive line-up would want to keep marked at all times. Considering his prowess in the attacking third and his ability to convert chances into goals, he could be a major threat to Jamshedpur FC as he would be looking to give a stunning start to his Hero ISL debut season.

Arindam Bhattacharja

Arindam was also awarded the Golden Glove trophy after having an average of 108.95 minutes per goal conceded, with ATK Mohun Bagan in the previous season, leading his club to the final. Arindam joined SC East Bengal ahead of the upcoming season from the runners-up side, ATK Mohun Bagan. Needless to say, this man between the sticks is one of the best in the game at the moment and with him guarding the goal for SC East Bengal, he will definitely be a challenge for the attacking line-up of Jamshedpur to get the ball past him.

Jackichand Singh

The former Jamshedpur FC midfielder was a crucial part of the attacking line-up of the Men of Steel squad. He provided multiple assists to Valskis and other attackers, and made a few close attempts himself which was always a threatening factor for the opposition. After making his mid-season transfer move to Mumbai City FC, the midfielder joined SC East Bengal on loan for the 2021-22 season. Jackichand’s midfield presence and game sense is extraordinary and his ability to make unexpected passes, through balls and final passes into tight spaces can really be a troubling element for his former side. His speed with the ball and dribbling ability that he uses to get through the defenses easily, will be a challenge for the Jamshedpur defenses in the upcoming season.

Darren Sidoel

Yet another foreign addition to the club, Darren previously played in the top leagues in Netherlands, England, Belgium, Bulgaria, and Spain, as well as for the Champions League contenders, Ajax, at the junior level. Sidoel, a defensive midfielder, is only 23 years old and is filled with young energy, possesses a strong defensive physique and experience from the big leagues. He could prove to be a threat to Jamshedpur’s defenses so it will be intriguing to see his potential in the league, his overall gameplay and how he could become a crucial part of SC East Bengal’s midfield.
