Facing FC Goa was a challenge, defeating them was even more challenging. In the end, we came out on top thanks to some stunning performances, good strategy and pure confidence.
Sergio Castel and Subrata Paul, in particular, swept the opponents and the entire Fatorda off their feet with their rock-solid act on the pitch resulting in both men bagging Hero of the Match award (Sergio Castel) and Limitless Player of the Match award (Subrata Paul).
In an interview, both talk about the overall game and how crucial the win was for the team
Thoughts on keeping a clean sheet at the Fatorda
Subrata: Clean sheet may have gone under my name but the win was because of everyone in the team. We all played well and played hard, even FC Goa gave a solid performance. They had some good chances on their side as well, but they got a little unlucky. Honestly, Jamshedpur FC made a clean sheet, not just me. So overall, it was a good team effort that made this happen.
Thoughts on the second half of the match and FC Goa's attacking performance
Subrata: We defended well. Especially Tiri and Memo were outstanding. Robin, Narender, and Jitender kept us afloat. That's how we got some results.
Sergio: I think our back and midfield were rock solid and we played a fantastic game. FC Goa gave us a good challenge during the second half. In the end, we got the three points we wanted and that was a good feeling.
Thoughts on being ‘Hero of the Match’
Sergio: I am very happy, very proud of my team. The way we played tonight as a whole was amazing. And we played against a very good team. So, overall I am satisfied.
Thoughts on Piti's absence due to injury and the pressure it created on the team
Sergio: We put on a good show, kept our nerves intact and played well. I definitely hope we’ll keep the momentum going till Piti comes back.
