Talal reflects on his special goal, but puts the team’s victory first

Jamshedpur, February 16: Jamshedpur FC midfielder Madih Talal expressed delight after scoring the winning goal on his ISL debut for the club against Mohammedan SC, as the Men of Steel secured a 1-0 victory and a clean sheet to begin their campaign at the Furnace.

Talal, who found the net in the eighth minute, described the moment as special but insisted that the focus remains on collective success.

“It feels amazing to score on my debut for Jamshedpur FC in the ISL,” Talal said. “As an attacking player, you always want to contribute with goals, so I’m very happy. But more than my goal, I’m happy that the team won. Starting the season with three points at home is very important for us.”

The midfielder was lively throughout the contest, constantly linking play and dictating tempo from midfield. Speaking about his role and adaptation to the team’s system, he added “I’m feeling very comfortable. The coach gives me confidence and freedom to play my game. My teammates also help me a lot we are understanding each other better every day in training. When the team plays with intensity and moves the ball quickly, it suits my style.”

Despite controlling large spells of the match and creating several opportunities, Jamshedpur were unable to extend their lead. Talal acknowledged there is room for improvement in front of goal.

“Yes, we could have scored more. We created chances and got into good positions. We need to be more clinical, and I’m sure that will come with more matches and confidence. We are working on it, and we want to improve every game.”

Talal emphasised that beginning the season with a clean-sheet victory provides a strong platform for what lies ahead.

“It’s the first game of the season, so it’s very important for confidence. A clean sheet shows that we are solid defensively, and that gives belief to the whole team. Now we must build on this and keep the momentum going.”

With the Furnace buzzing throughout the evening, Talal made sure to thank the supporters who turned up in big numbers.

“The fans were incredible tonight. You can really feel their energy on the pitch. When they support us like that, it motivates us even more. We want to make them proud and give them many more wins this season.”

Jamshedpur will face Punjab FC in their next outing at JRD Tata Sports Complex on February 21st.
