Head Coach, Indranil Chakraborty talks about the squad’s performance in the win against FC Goa, the physical aspect of the lads being an edge and how the squad is kept humble regardless of the fixture outcome.

On the summary of the #FCGJFC…

Yeah, we had a good start as we took the lead within the first 6 minutes of the game and then the lads kept on scoring more goals while keeping a simple approach to their game style. We have been training the lads to keep a simple game style as FC Goa is one of the best teams in the league who have a pressing approach, but the lads kept it simple and dominated the midfield, ball possession and the overall game. They kept improving as the game went on and at the end we produced a good result.

On the lad’s strong physical aspect being an advantage over the other teams…

We have an overall mixture of some good physical as well as smart technical players in the squad who understand how to hold the ball as well as outbody the opposition who are stronger than them. So, their footballing aspects are improving as we are continuously working on them and they seem to be developing after every game they play.

On how the squad is kept grounded and away from getting complacent…

We had a good result in the first game and in the second game we equalised in the final moments of the game to churn out a draw. Today, we have produced a large margin win against a very strong FC Goa team and my only message to the lads is to focus on the upcoming game moving forward as all the other teams are also producing similar results which has kept the league table competitive. So, the only thing we need to do is stay focused, rest well, hydrate properly and focus on each game at a time as we need to keep things simple.
