The Men of Steel face NorthEast United as their next away challenge

Jamshedpur: With the aim of finishing the Hero Indian Super League season 2022-23 with positives, the Men of Steel will face NorthEast United FC in their next fixture.

The Aidy Boothroyd-managed side went toe-to-toe against the Islanders in their last game and held their ground well but were unfortunate to concede two goals in quick succession which led to them losing a well-deserved win against the table toppers.

As the squad gears up to get back in action in the final month of this season, the Men of Steel will be heading to Guwahati for their away game against the Highlanders.

In the previous meeting between the two, the Men of Steel registered their first win of the season when they face-to-face with NorthEast United FC. A slim lead won by former skipper, Peter Hartley over the visitors won the Jamshedpur side all 3 points at their home turf, the Furnace.

Jamshedpur FC Gaffer, Aidy Boothroyd when asked about facing NorthEast United in the reverse fixture, stated, “It’s not difficult at all to motivate the players. In terms of pride, both clubs have had tough seasons and it’s difficult but it’s a true test of individuals and of a team so we’re concentrating on winning every single game. We want to finish the season strong. Last season was a very good season but we’re in a transition and for us now it is important to finish the season as strong as we can.”.

The two sides have faced each other 11 times previously in the Hero ISL. Out of which Jamshedpur has won 5 games and 5 of the duels ended in both sides sharing the spoils. Jamshedpur has always been the dominant out of the two sides in the previous meetings.

Currently, both teams are placed at the bottom of the table. While Jamshedpur has registered two wins in the season, NorthEast United has managed to win only one game which sees them at the bottom end of the league standings. Both teams are placed one over the other, Jamshedpur with 9 points and NorthEast United with 4 points in the 16 games that the two have played up until now.

While the two sides won’t be able to qualify for the playoffs, the squads will definitely aim to put an end to the season positively and on a high note. With just 4 games left, the Men of Steel will seek to squeeze out as many points from all the games as possible to try and finish on a higher spot and put a smile on the fan’s faces.
