The Men of Steel take down the Kalinga Warriors in the final game of the league stage

The final game of the season saw Jamshedpur FC ending their season on a high note as they beat the hosts, Odisha FC to take away the winning points to themselves. A clinical header from Harry and a beautiful finish from Ritwik Das were the goals that separated the two sides in Bhubaneswar.

The last game of the league stage between the two kicked off at the Kalinga Stadium with exciting energy as both teams aimed to take an early lead over the other. Both sides unleashed a bunch of attacks right from the get-go but did not find the back of the net early on.

The hosts did attempt a few crosses and shots aimed at the Jamshedpur goal but Vishal Yadav made some confident saves to deny them the opener.

The first half hour of the game was controlled by the visitors as they challenged the Odisha defence multiple times and were also compact with their defence at the back.

Despite multiple attempts from Jamshedpur to find the back of the net before closing the first half, the first 45’ minutes did not see any goals being scored by either of the sides.

Odisha stepped up their attacks in order to take the lead over the visitors, Jamshedpur FC but the Men of Steel were resilient with their defence.

Right after the Jamshedpur-dominated game reached its one-hour mark, the Jamshedpur squad broke the deadlock and took the lead over the hosts. Ritwik supplied a pass down to Chima who takes a long touch within the box and lobs it in from a steep angle. Harry Sawyer makes the leap and converts it into the back of the net with a headed attempt to take his side to the lead.

Just 2 minutes after the first goal, Ritwik extended the lead for the Men of Steel with a clinical finish at the end of a through ball from the Aussie forward, Harry Sawyer.

A 2-goal lead didn’t stop Jamshedpur FC from keeping their attacks on as the visitors kept their hunt on to score more goals to close their final fixture with a dominant win. Odisha FC were unsuccessful in slipping any goals past the Jamshedpur FC defence as Vishal Yadav earned a well-deserved clean sheet.

The final game of the league stage saw Jamshedpur FC walking out victorious at the end of the 90’ with the winning points. The Men of Steel put an end to their 2022-23 season on a positive note and avenged their reverse fixture loss by holding the Juggernauts back from confirming their spot in the playoffs.
