The Return of CK Vineeth

Picking up the Limitless Player award against his former team, Kerala Blasters FC last night, CK Vineeth scored a stunning debut goal for Jamshedpur FC. In the emotional moment of redemption, the Indian forward chose not to celebrate his eighth career goal in Kochi in front of a passionate crowd that once cheered his name.

We caught up with the man of the moment, and below is an excerpt from the conversation...

On scoring in front of the local fans in his hometown, against his former team.

I was not focusing on scoring. My focus was to get the three points for my team, that is the most important thing, and I wanted it against Kerala Blasters FC, that is what I was looking forward to the most, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen. In the last few minutes, we conceded goals. I was happy to get on the score sheet, but all three points would have made me happier.

On missing out on topping the points table on two occasions.

I think we played good football but in the last 10 minutes (against KBFC) we lost concentration, and that cost us the three points we were looking for. We need to regroup and learn from our mistakes and move on to the next one, against Mumbai City FC. We need full points there, at home on the 19th (of December).

On the return of CK Vineeth after his performance in Kochi against Kerala Blasters FC.

I am and have been working towards that, and I even got injured in between. I need to get back to scoring and I am trying my best to do as much as I can for my team. Let’s hope I can get some luck after my recent goal.
