“We are certainly not happy with just a point.” - Peter Hartley shares his thoughts post #SCEBJFC

The first fixture of Jamshedpur FC’s Season 2021-22 concluded with them sharing the spoils with SC East Bengal at the Tilak Maidan Stadium. While the Men of Steel tried with all their might to bag all three points, the game ended in a draw much to the frustration of the skipper, Peter Hartley, who also scored the equaliser against the Red and Gold Brigade.

Opening up about the non-desired result in the post-match interview, Peter talks about where and how the team lacked and what can be done to achieve a different result .

On that famous goal celebration

Well, we scored in the last minute (of the first half) so we didn't exactly play too well. But, I did promise my sons that I would score a goal so the celebration was dedicated to them. That boxing at the end of the celebration was a little bit of frustration because of the way we played. However, we scored a point at the end of the day, so now we move on to the next one.

On the overall performance of the team

We have had a great pre-season, we should have won this game. Today's performance was way below average; it's the worst we've played since we came back to training, and even though we bagged a point tonight, as a team we did try to win it. They are happy with a point but we are certainly not... and that's football.

On making improvements ahead of FC Goa vs Jamshedpur FC

I think playing forward a bit more, picking up second balls, just in general being on the front foot, is something we will keep striving for. As you could see in the first half of the game, the guys were a bit nervous as it was  the first game of the season, and everyone was working to set a rhythm. Now, as we move forward, people will start to see what Jamshedpur has been working on during the pre-season.
